To Remind You of Your Travels
The art I place in our home is of the utmost importance to me because it inspires and energizes me every time I see it – especially if it is reminiscent of travels. Following are some of my favorite artists and pieces:
Rosemary Tufankjian
Rosemary specializes in modern lifestyle and travel photography. She has beautifully captured some of my favorite spots on the planet: Nantucket, the Amalfi Coast, the beaches of Spain and St. Tropez. My favorites are the umbrellas in Marbella, Spain, the colorful beach photos in Positano and the calming blue ocean shots. Her site is worth visiting: http://www.rosemarytufankjian.com
Kim Schuessler
Kim is a figurative painter from Atlanta. Her large and whimsical paintings employ vibrant colors are purposed to evoke joy and love. I am currently coveting “Why fit in when you were born to stand out”. http://www.kimschuessler.com/paintings.html
Frances Vye Wilson
Frances creates unique contemporary sculptures using cambium fiber. Frances aims to juxtapose the concepts of durability and fragility; vulnerability and strength; man-made and nature. My favorite series of sculptures is her Social Warriors series. https://francesvyewilson.com/events/gallery/
Molly Dee
I discovered the work of Molly Dee while interning at a gallery on Nantucket. She creates large sepia toned figurative paintings that resemble vintage postcards. Many center around the beach and boating and they truly invoke a feeling of a different time. https://www.cavaliergalleries.com/artist/Molly_Dee/works/?page=1
Alex Beard
Alex Beard is a New Orleans artist whose genre he has coined “Abstract Naturalism”. His work has been inspired by his extensive travels. Alex is a huge philanthropist – we met him through his contributions to the Emeril Lagasse Foundation. We are happy to have recently acquired one of his paintings that fits Travel Sommelier perfectly. https://www.alexbeardstudio.com/artwork
