Just Back: Turks + Caicos

Private Caribbean Island … “foot-in-the-sand living” … crystal clear water … yes, please! Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos has been on my personal bucket list for years, and I can attest that it was worth the wait and helped us make it through New England's winter.

As a mom to two young children (Beau, four, and Sawyer, two), vacations don’t always feel like an actual break. Mix three generations of family dynamics (including my mother-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, and hubby), plus logistics to meet the needs of each individual, and things can become complicated. Parrot Cay’s offering for families was our solution as much as it was the catalyst for our trip.

Our family of foodies took advantage of the various dining options ... Caribbean vibes with Asian flare, pad thai and poke bowls, coffee served al fresco on our patio, fine dining at Lotus, and traditional stone oven pizza by Tony, from Napoli, by the pool.

Wellness was another component of our stay. We woke up with grain bowls and green juice, practiced yoga with instructors from Bali at sunrise, and of course, snuck in a couple’s massage. My morning fitness routine was replaced with runs through coconut and banana groves, bike rides to explore the island’s charm, and lessons with a tennis pro from Montenegro.

The Kids Club provided us adults the opportunity to relax. It was such a comfort knowing my littles were in good hands getting creative tie-dyeing T-shirts, taking cooking classes, fishing outings, and spotting lizards!

As a family, we watched dolphins on sunset sails, kayaked through a maze of mangroves, and walked the beach to collect sand dollars that the kids painted with watercolors. We also explored Iguana Island to view the skeleton of La Famille Express.

After ten days, I was not ready to leave T+C, and for someone who struggles with staying in one place, this reality took me by surprise. But that feeling of surprise was a common thread throughout our trip—in the best possible way. TS is newly energized about the Caribbean and we can help chart your perfect course.
