Spotlight: New Zealand

Māori dancers perform synchronized moves of the Haka … steam rises from thermal geysers and natural hot springs … climbers traverse otherworldly icy glaciers … kayaks pierce the serene water of Milford Sound.

The island nation of New Zealand is a land of natural wonders, rich culture, and myriad outdoor activities. This trifecta provides something for everyone. Kiwis enjoy an active lifestyle so people of all ages can satisfy their desire for adventure. Options to explore include helicopter, horseback, ATV, bike, or jet boat. New Zealand is also a golfer’s paradise with some of the more breathtaking courses in the world.

One of our favorite properties is Wharekauhau Lodge, nestled in the foothills of the Remutaka Mountains on the rugged coast of Palliser Bay. This working farm encompasses 3,000 acres that showcase the North Island’s diverse landscape from craggy cliffs overlooking volcanic black sand beaches to ancient forests.

This spectacular lodge offers the cozy comforts of home with an impressive wine cellar, including renowned Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and a stellar gastronomy experience. Farm-to-fork is quite literally a way of life here. In a country where there are more sheep than people, sustainability is paramount and defines the local way of life.

If the warmth, superior hospitality, and focus on nature in southern Africa resonated with you, New Zealand should be next on your list. Allow TS to draw on our experience and connections to curate your perfect trip.
