Spotlight: Italy—Emelia Romagna, Dolomites + Lake District

Italy’s allure is undeniable, and the pent-up demand for its romantic cities and sparkling coast has posed many obstacles. Our approach is simple, we unearth small footprint and high-quality experiences that deliver an innate sense of place. This is why we are shining the spotlight on these northern regions that showcase the diversity found within Italia.

As self-proclaimed foodies, we connect with the Emilia-Romagna region, the birthplace of many gastronomic pleasures. In Bologna, its medieval capital, learn how to make strascinati, an egg pasta made from scratch, from a Nonna in her home. Sample perfectly matured Parmigiana Reggiano and different varietals of barrel-aged balsamic vinegar on strawberries and prosciutto in Modena. Pause with a glass of Lambrusco, a sparkling chilled red wine, under the city's iconic arched colonnades.

Along the border of Austria, exists the jagged snow-peaked rock cathedrals of the Dolomites. Ski with an Olympian, hike through the alpine meadows, or simply enjoy some sausage and beer in Bolzano, the gateway city to the Dolomites. This unique locale allows you to experience both Austrian and Italian cultures.

We love to pair these mountains with Italy's crystalline Lake District. Como may come to mind first, but there is so much more to this region, including Maggiore, Garda, Orta, and Iseo, each with its distinct personality. Here, natural beauty is combined with quintessential Italian charm in the form of crisp mountain air, picturesque villages, manicured gardens, and baroque villas.

Navigate Italy's north in TS style on the road less traveled.
