After growing up in South Africa and having a rewarding career on Wall Street that spanned four continents, I took an entrepreneurial leap to incorporate Travel Sommelier, the fulfillment of a long-held ambition. Having already traveled to over 80 countries, I wanted to build a travel company that delivers the type of travel experiences I enjoyed first-hand. My experiences have run the value spectrum, from traveling as a dollar-conscious backpacker to a professional with a robust budget.
This background has enabled me to structure distinctive trips with an eye toward delivering ‘walk in the footsteps of an insider’ experiences. I believe strongly in building deep and abiding relationships and it has been gratifying to see many of our clients become close friends.
I am impassioned by wine and food and attempt to incorporate these elements into all of our itineraries, as I believe that one of the best ways to integrate into a destination is to understand and appreciate these elements of the local culture. In the end, the most significant guidance in designing a trip comes from you, the traveler. I spend an inordinate amount of time understanding what makes you tick, and getting to know why and how you travel – the genesis of your travel and the dream behind your trip is paramount. We can have fun bringing together my product knowledge and experience with your series of boxes to tick!
